Imagined Theatres #06: Chile

Founded by performance theorist and scholar Daniel Sack, Imagined Theatres (www.imaginedtheatres.com) is an international peer-reviewed, online journal and archive dedicated to imagining what might be possible and impossible in the theatre.

Imagined Theatres #06: Chile represents the first bilingual issue of the journal and joins a larger archive of more than two hundred other imaginary propositions from leading artists around the world. The issue has been collaboratively edited and translated by a team of Chilean and U.S. theater writer-scholars. This cross-cultural collaboration, like the edition's bilingual content, enacts another imagined theatre - one thoughtfully and dynamically co-created across nations and made accessible to the audiences of both.

This year, when Santiago a Mil invites us to imagine and create different futures, we’re part of the launch of Imagined Theatres #06: Chile*, featuring contributions from fourteen contemporary Chilean performance makers and thinkers.

In short manifestations across a range of media, each contribution proposes a future theatre resonating from a contemporary Chile undergoing enormous change -both real and potential - and stretches the boundaries of theatrical form.

Participants: Mauricio Barría, Pía Gutiérrez, Coca Duarte, Iván Insunza, Ramón Griffero, Rolando Jara and Colectivo LASTESIS..
