Deeper is an immersive experience that combines art and technology, live performance, and 3D reality, to explore and question the limits of what we know today as "human consciousness" manifested in threshold experiences.
The territories of madness, sex, psychedelia, and the proximity to death reveal extensive plasticity of what we understand today by consciousness, which also seems to resonate with the research of technologies using virtual reality.
The Deeper project asks What the metaverse can reveal about a future life? A life between worlds, between reality and fiction, between the person and its virtual representations (avatars). The production of dissociative experiences points to a new paradigm of subjectivation.
Janaina Leite's research on the existence or not of a virtual theater began during the pandemic confinement with the Núcleo do Olho (Eye Nucleus) to reflect on the art of presence through the online universe.
The play was invited by the Edinburgh Fringe Society as a participant in the Voices from the South initiative and won the Arte no Metaverso grant from Itaú Cultural. Its premiere is scheduled for the first half of 2024.
