A cashier has been working for 12 years in a supermarket chain of the Neoliberal Laboratory. In her post, she watches life go by while the machines and belts move the products that customers are going to consume. But one day, her mechanical routine will be altered when she begins to suspect that something is hiding in the aisles.
Written by Jorge Contreras and directed by Muriel Miranda, Continuidad de las cajeras (Continuity of the cashiers) is a sound montage, with the particular visuality of a live miniature model turned into a stage, which reflects on the effects of an increasingly sleepy society, immersed in consumption and threatened by the robotization of labor, all from the point of view of an intrepid supermarket employee.
Winner of the XX Muestra Nacional de Dramaturgia, an initiative financed by the Fondo Nacional de Fomento y Desarrollo de las Artes Escénicas (National Fund for the Promotion and Development of the Performing Arts).
