Antes que los hombres fueran dioses (Before Men Were Gods) is a theater play that explores the evolution of masculinity throughout history, from the time when female goddesses were the main deities to the present day, where patriarchal and macho culture still prevails.
With no other objective than to raise questions in relation to the multiple atavistic forms of male gender violence and to problematize in first person the demands of the paradigm shift we are going through, a circle of men meets systematically to rethink their identities, understand their behaviors and reconfigure their roles in contemporary society, trying to collectively answer a central question: What is it to be a man?
